Promotions are the part of marketing that involves communicating company or product information to targeted customers. This is a key component of the broader marketing system. Every company can target a unique audience, depending on the products and services they offer.

You can specify promotion methods while setting up your profile with information about traffic sources (Profile settings > Provided traffic > a certain source > Promotion methods). It allows advertisers to understand which methods do you work with.

Before you begin:

Promotion methods

This article describes different promotion methods that you can use.

Doorways

A doorway page (bridge pages, portal pages, jump pages, etc.) is a website which is created for attracting organic traffic through SEO. The doorway looks like a list of random meaningless words for a user, but a search engine recognizes these as popular user keyword queries. It is due to the many keywords that it moves to the top of the search organically. Doorways are used to redirect people to landing pages with information about the offer and a link leading to it.

Paid search

Paid search (search marketing, search engine marketing, SEM, etc.) is a type of online marketing strategy that promotes websites by increasing their rankings and visibility on search engines like Google, Yahoo, or Bing. Search marketing uses both paid and unpaid (organic) tactics to help users find the right website among millions.

Preload

App preloads are the latest innovation in mobile advertising. They allow you to bypass the natural inclination to “tune out” by putting your brand at the forefront of people’s everyday experience: the smartphone home screen.

Blog

A blog is a content marketing strategy which uses blogs to address potential customers directly and individually, thus achieving customer loyalty for their own brand. This type of marketing uses marketing methods in which an interest group is built based on a blog. Readers can interact with the producers of content that is generally informative and entertaining. It increases brand loyalty and identification potential.

Social networks

Social network marketing is any form of marketing that takes place on social media platforms. This marketing strategy can play out in different ways, from formal advertising campaigns to informal customer engagement. Anytime a business uses social media, it could be considered a form of social network marketing. This form of outreach could take place on any social media platform, whether it's Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, or anything else.

Emailing

Email marketing is a form of marketing that can make the customers on the email list aware of new products, discounts, and other services. It can also be a softer sell to educate the audience on the value of your brand or keep them engaged between purchases.

Mobile traffic

Mobile traffic is any Internet traffic that comes from a mobile device.

Video

Video advertising encompasses online display advertisements that have video within them, but it is generally accepted that it refers to advertising that occurs before, during and/or after a video stream on the Internet.

Push notifications

Push notifications are small, clickable pop-up messages sent to a user’s device by a mobile app that appear even when the app isn't open. These notifications are designed to grab attention and can convey reminders, updates, promotions, and more. One specific feature of a push ad notification is that you must first opt in to be receiving the ads.

Display advertising

Display advertising is online ads that combine visual elements with a call to action (CTA) message that links to a landing page. You typically see them along the top or sides of a website or in the middle of the content you’re reading. Display ads are visually appealing, cost-effective, and a measurable way for a brand to reach their marketing goals. The main purpose of display advertising is to deliver general advertisements and brand messages to site visitors.

Native advertising

Native advertising (sponsored content) is cohesive with the page content, assimilated into the design, and consistent with the platform behavior. It makes the viewer feel the ad belongs there. An example of mobile native advertising can be paid video content on the YouTube app. This media is designed to match the visual design and function of natural content, appearing in your feed of recommended videos.

Media buying

A media buy is the purchase of advertising from a media company, such as a television station, newspaper, magazine, blog, or website. It also entails the negotiation for price and placement of ads, as well as research into the best new venues for ad placement. Media buying includes display ads, social media ads, paid search, mobile ads, video ads and so on.

Organic traffic

Organic marketing is a strategy that generates traffic to your business over time, rather than using paid methods. This includes blog posts, case studies, guest posts, unpaid tweets, and Facebook updates. Organic marketing uses social media and other channels to increase brand awareness.

Online forums

An online forum is a space online where people can hold discussions. It differs from a chat room in allowing for conversations to happen over time, rather than messages going back and forth in quick succession. And unlike social media sites, an online discussion forum is typically focused on a particular subject matter, brand, or fandom. Online forums are usually organized into a number of categories, in which members can post their questions or discussion prompts and reply to each other.

Text links

Text links promotion is a type of promotion using hyperlinks in the text to some products, service and so on.

Content

Content promotion is a type of promotion using any type of content. It's focused on distributing valuable content to attract and retain an audience. Content marketing is a great promotional tool for any company, but it’s especially helpful for businesses with longer sales cycles, like B2B and SaaS companies.

Competition

Competition (contest marketing) is a marketing strategy that utilizes contests, giveaways, sweepstakes or lotteries to boost brand awareness and reach new potential customers.

Other

Any other type of promotion that are not listed above (coupons, cashback, reviews, etc.).
